Baylor Soccer Has Six Earn Academic All-District Honors
Bears have six earn College Sports Communicators academic all-district accolades

WACO, Texas – Baylor soccer had six student-athletes collect Academic All-District honors, selected by College Sports Communicators.

Kayley Ables, Maddie Algya, Ava Colberg, Sarah Hornyak, Elizabeth Kooiman and Lauren Traywick were each honored with academic all-district accolades. The six are now eligible for Academic All-America honors from CSC, formerly the College Sports Information Directors Association.

The Academic All-District Soccer Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance in the classroom and on the field.

Ables, a fifth-year senior from Waco, Texas, owns a 4.00 GPA, while working on a master’s degree in business administration. She started and played in all 17 games as a defender for the Bears and totaled 1432 minutes on the field, the most of any player this season.

Algya, another fifth-year senior hails from Highland Village, Texas, also has a 4.00 GPA while working on her masters in biology. She played in 16 games for the Bears, recording a goal and an assist on the season.

Colberg, a sophomore out of Frisco, Texas, is a pre-business student with a 4.00 GPA. She played and started in all 17 games for BU as an integral part of the Baylor backline. This is her second-straight season starting in every game.

Hornyak, a junior from Southlake, Texas, is majoring in marketing with a 3.70 GPA. Playing in 16 games for the Bears, she recorded two assists this season as a midfielder, while picking up one start.

Kooiman, a senior from San Jose, Calif., has a 3.97 GPA and is studying computer and electrical engineering. She played in all 17 games, starting in 12 of them and picking up a goal against Iowa State.

Traywick, a junior from Austin, Texas, tallies a 3.90 GPA while studying political science and pre-law. She started 14 games in goal for the Bears, picking up 58 saves and two shutouts on the season.
