WELCOME HOME

Eight new faces joined the Baylor program in the offseason. Darianna Littlepage-Buggs, who was tabbed the Preseason Big 12 Freshman of the Year, is joined by Kyla Abraham and Bella Fontleroy in the rookie class that was ranked No. 9 nationally by ESPN HoopGurlz.

A transfer from Missouri who was named Preseason Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, Aijha Blackwell adds depth alongside Jana Van Gytenbeek (Stanford), Erika Porter (Illinois), Catarina Ferreira (Eastern Arizona College) and Dre’Una Edwards (Kentucky), who all joined the Bears in the offseason.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

A trio of Bears were selected to preseason watch lists published by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). Returner Ja’Mee Asberry landed a spot on the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Watch List, which recognizes the top shooting guard in women’s NCAA Division I basketball.

Additionally, Blackwell and Edwards were selected to the Cheryl Miller (small forward) and the Katrina McClain (power forward) Award Watch Lists, respectively.

THE STREAK CONTINUES

For the 355th-consecutive week, Baylor women’s basketball was included in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll, checking in at No. 18 in the preseason rankings. The streak marks the second-longest behind UConn’s 545-straight weeks.
