STORYLINES

LEADING OFF

• Baylor hosts No. 8 Oklahoma State for its final three-game series of 2022.

• BU currently sits in 8th place in the Big 12 standings at 6-15 in conference play, with one Big 12 series remaining.

• Baylor's magic number to clinch a spot in the Big 12 Tournament is one. It would take just one win over Oklahoma State, OR just one Kansas loss to Texas to book BU's spot to Arlington.

• Entering the final weekend of the regular season, the Bears lead the nation with 58 double plays turned, and 1.18 twin killings per game.

• BU has recorded at least one extra-base hit in each of its last 28 games and have notched at least two XBH in 17 of its last 18 games.

• Senior RHP Jake Jackson was named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week after his performance on Friday at Kansas State, tying a season-high with 7.0 IP and allowing just one run on six hits with three strikeouts and a walk.

• Jackson is Baylor's fourth weekly Big 12 award recipient, BU's most in a season since 2018 (8).

• Junior INF Jack Pineda leads the Big 12 and is tied for 17th nationally with five triples. He sits three behind the nation's leader with three regular-season games to play.

• Five triples are the most by a Bear in a single season since Richard Cunningham led the team with five in 2016.

• Baylor also ranks second in the league with 12 total triples on the year.

• The Bears will honor 13 seniors on Saturday as part of their Senior Day ceremonies in Nicolas Balsano, Esteban Cardoza-Oquendo, Ian Groves, Blake Helton, Jake Jackson, Anderson Needham, Hambleton Oliver, Jack Pineda, Tyler Thomas, Antonio Valdez, Matt Voelker, Chase Wehsener and Beau Wimpee.

TURNING TWO

• Third-year sophomore 2B Tre Richardson leads the team with an assist in 41 of the Bears' double plays.

• The Bears rolled just 33 double plays in all of 2021 (0.65 per game).

• The last time Baylor led the nation in any statistical category as a team was in 2015, when BU was tied for the country's top mark in triple plays with one.

JACKSON NAMED PITCHER OF THE WEEK

• Senior RHP Jake Jackson was named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week on Monday after his impressive outing in Friday's series opener at Kansas State.

• The veteran righty matched his season best with seven innings pitched and held the Wildcats to one run on six scattered hits.

• He picked up three strikeouts and walked only one, capping his efficient day at 92 total pitches.

• Jackson faced four or fewer batters in five of his seven frames.

• Since moving into Baylor's Friday role as part of the weekend rotation, Jackson has gone six and seven innings in his two starts with a 4.85 ERA.

• Against K-State, he earned his fourth win of the year to improve to 4-4 and lowered his season ERA to 7.87.
