WACO, Texas – Baylor softball’s Josie Bower was named to the 2022 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District First Team for District 7, announced Thursday morning by the organization.

Players are selected by CoSIDA members, and to be considered, players must accumulate a cumulative GPA between 3.30-4.00 with at least a sophomore athletic standing, while being a starter or key reserve for their respective team.

The selection marks the 31st time a Bear has earned a CoSIDA All-District nod, becoming the 20th different player to do so.

Bower, a junior accounting major, carries a 3.81 GPA. As a starter in 45 games this season, she has amassed 33 hits with three doubles, two triples and two home runs. Bower was an integral part of the Baylor offense this season, playing every game in the designated player position.

The Academic All-District teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. District 7 covers Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas.

First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third team All-America honorees will be selected next month.
