COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Baylor women’s tennis begins its 2022 NCAA Tournament journey on Friday with a 10 a.m. match against Washington at the Mitchell Tennis Center on the campus of Texas A&M.



The Bears (15-8) are 3-2 all-time against the Huskies (14-11), winning each of the last two meetings. Overall, Baylor is 37-18 in NCAA Tournament play.



BU is in its 23rd NCAA Tournament, marking its 16th appearance under head coach Joey Scrivano.



Baylor is led by Mel Krywoj and Alicia Herrero, who are ranked seventh nationally in doubles. The duo also received a seed in the NCAA individual tournament that will be held after the conclusion of the team tournament. The seniors are 22-4 on the year.



Friday will mark the first NCAA Tournament action for half of the Bears in the singles lineup. Isabella Harvison did not compete in the tournament during her time at Alabama, while Alina Shcherbinina and Anita Sahdiieva are freshmen.



The winner of Friday’s match will advance to face the winner between No. 7 seed Texas A&M and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
