FORT WORTH, Texas – No. 9 Baylor men’s tennis finishes off the non-conference slate with a familiar foe in No. 1 TCU on Friday. The match is set for 5:30 p.m. at the Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth.

The Bears (17-2) will meet the Frogs (16-2) in a non-conference matchup before starting Big 12 play on April 1, with BU winning four of its last five matches played this season.

TCU currently leads the all-time series at 35-29, but Baylor has won five of the last six matches, with four of the contests taking place in 2021 alone.

The Bears come off a tough road loss to then-No. 12 Michigan, where they fell 4-0. It was just the second loss of the season, first on the road, and the first time BU had been swept this spring. The then No-18 duo of Sven Lah and Finn Bass bested the No. 10 pairing of Nino Ehrenschneider/Andrew Fenty, 6-3, to improve to 9-4 for dual-match season. They are on a two-match winning streak and have now recorded two wins over nationally ranked opponents.

In the latest set of rankings from the ITA, Adrian Boitan is now 15th, Lah 31st, and Matias Soto 50th for singles, while Lah and Bass are 30th in doubles.

Boitan boasts a hot 12-0 singles winning streak going into the match, all on court one, while also going 8-3 in doubles with former Frog Tadeas Paroulek. Lah is currently 10-4 in singles with a 7-4 record on court three. Juan Pablo Grassi Mazzuchi is 15-2, Bass is 11-4, Soto is 8-4, Paroulek is 6-1 and Marko Miladinović is 5-4 in singles on the spring. The duo of Soto and Grassi Mazzuchi goes into the match at 12-4, all happening on court two.

The Horned Frogs have five singles players ranked and have doubles pairs taking over the Nos. 2, 3 and 4 slots in the ITA. TCU is coming off a 4-1 win over then-No. 45 SMU to face the Bears, downing then-No. 65 South Florida just days before at 6-1. The Frogs are on a four-match winning streak.
