IRVING, Texas – Baylor equestrian garnered a league-leading 25 Academic All-Big 12 selections, as announced Wednesday by the conference office.

Twenty-three Bears were named to the first team, while an additional two received second-team praise as BU led the conference for the sixth-straight season.

First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, while the second-team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher, either cumulative or the previous two semesters, and must have participated in 20% of their team’s scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence.

Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.

Baylor finished the 2022 regular season at 6-6 and will compete in the Big 12 Championship later this week as the No. 4 seed. The Bears will square off with No. 1 Oklahoma State on Friday, with the action beginning at 10 a.m. at TCU’s Diamond Creek Ranch in Burleson.
