Story lines

• Baylor Softball is set to host Tarleton in a midweek doubleheader Tuesday March 22 in Waco, Texas.

• BU and Tarleton have previously met three times with Baylor leading the all-time record 3-0. The Bears last faced the Texans last season in Louisiana where they defeated them 5-1 and 2-0 in respective games. Before the matchups in the 2021 season the two teams had only met once before in 1996, where the Bears won 5-0.

• Baylor (15-10) are coming off of a midweek game at Texas State where they won 3-0 and a weekend series with McNeese State where they took the series over the Cowgirls 2-1.

• Tarleton (18-9) is coming off of a three-game conference series with ACU where they fell in the first two games before rallying for a 7-5 win in game three. The Texans started their season this year 10-0.

• Aliyah Binford had herself a game in the final matchup against McNeese State, pitching a complete-game one-hitter while going 3-for-3 at the plate with a home run, her first this season. She completed the day a triple away from the cycle. She recorded the 37th one-hitter in Baylor softball history while picking up her first solo one-hitter of her career.

• McKenzie Wilson still ranks first in the Big 12 with five triples on the season. Wilson is also fourth in the nation in 0.20 triples per game. Her .423 season batting average still leads the Bears as well as her 20 RBI.

• Over the weekend, Ana Watson recorded her fourth multi-hit game of the season as she had two doubles in the series opener against the Cowgirls.

• BU picked up their fifth and sixth shutouts this past week marking the first season since 2018 that the Bears had had six or more shutouts in a season.

• With two outs, the Bears are hitting .308 this season providing key hits at the right moments to get wins.

• This will mark the Bears last non-conference matchup before they start conference play this weekend at No.1 Oklahoma.

• Four Bears are currently hitting .300 or better, Josie Bower, Aliyah Binford, Sydney Collazos and Emily Hott
• Kaci West and Dariana Orme both pitched last week with Orme picking up two wins on a 0.58 ERA tossing nine strikeouts and only allowing one earned run.
