Baylor T&F: Eight Bears Open Outdoor Season in Austin

WACO, Texas – Baylor track and field sent eight student-athletes to compete at the Longhorn Invitational on Saturday to open the 2022 outdoor season.



Cierra Wash, Briana Garcia, Jasmine Gryne, Audrey Williamson, Hannah Link, Kamden Jackson, Laurenz Colbert and Preston York were those in attendance representing the green and gold.



Link got off to a hot start in the hammer throw, beating her personal-best by 12 feet with a 191-10 throw, while also finding the No. 2 spot on Baylor’s all-time list in the event.



Wash and Gryne finished in third and fourth places for the 400 meters, running 56.90 and 57.30 races, respectively. Garcia also ran in the event, finishing in seventh with a 59.15. Wash and Garcia returned to the track in the 200 meters, taking the seventh and eighth spots in the event.



Williamson was the lone Bear hurdler of the day, finishing the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:07.56.



Jackson and Colbert ran 10.49 and 10.50-second races in the men’s edition of the 100-meter dash, respectively, finishing in fourth and fifth place. Colbert also ran in the 200 meters, where he finished in fourth place after a 21.04 race, followed by York in 11th. In his second event of the day, York finished the 400 with a bronze medal and a 49.48 race.



Baylor will send 10 student-athletes to the NCAA Indoor National Championship in Birmingham, Ala., next week and will officially open the outdoor season March 19th at TCU.
