WACO, Texas – Baylor Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Mack Rhoades announced Friday the promotion of Cori Pinkett to Senior Associate AD for Student-Athlete Success.

In her new role, Pinkett will lead the Student-Athlete Center for Excellence (SACE) and continue as sport program administrator for the Baylor Softball program. SACE is responsible for the academic welfare and support of Baylor University’s student-athletes in all 19 varsity sports. The department consists of two major areas, Academic Services and Character Formation.

“We are incredibly excited to promote Cori into this expanded leadership role,” Rhoades said. “Her wealth of knowledge, experience, and demonstrated leadership over time have well prepared her for this next step. She has a tremendous vision for the future of SACE and a deep personal commitment to Preparing Champions for Life. Cori’s immense faith, elite ability to build relationships, and commitment to the holistic development of all student-athletes, positions her to be one of the top leaders in this space.”

Pinkett previously served as Associate AD for Character Formation, where she was charged with leading a three-member team focused on developing and enhancing Character Formation programming. She joined Baylor Athletics in July 2018 as Assistant AD for Student-Athlete Development and was previously promoted to the Associate AD for Character Formation role.

Pinkett joined Baylor after spending a year and a half as the Director of Leadership and Education for Women Leaders in College Sports. During her time at Women Leaders in College Sports, Pinkett planned, managed and executed all educational programming content and professional development programming for the association. Pinkett was instrumental in revamping the Rising Stars program, organizing the 2017 Women Leaders National Convention programming and supporting the Women of Color Initiative.

Prior joining Women Leaders, Pinkett served as the Director of Student-Athlete Development from 2013-2017 at K-State Athletics. In this role, she equipped student-athletes to lead successful lives through holistic programming in the areas of personal, leadership and career development as well as community engagement. Additionally, she served as the advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, organized graduation receptions, spearheaded the execution of the Powercat Choice Awards, and assisted with the recruiting of prospective student athletes.

Pinkett got her start as Assistant Director of Student Services at the University of Central Florida. At UCF, she developed, organized and facilitated programming for student athletes in the areas of personal development, leadership development and career preparation. She was also a member of the athletics department’s Student Welfare Committee, assisted the Senior Women’s Administrator with NCAA and Conference USA Awards and co-managed the NCAA Student-Athlete Opportunity Fund.

Pinkett has served as a facilitator at the NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum, is a graduate of the NCAA Dr. Charles Whitcomb Leadership Institute and served as the Chair for the N4A Student-Athlete Development Committee. She is a graduate of the University of Georgia where she earned bachelor’s degrees in Marketing and Sport Business Management. She also received her master’s degrees in Business Administration and Sport Business Management from the University of Central Florida.
