WACO, Texas – No. 17 Baylor women’s tennis (6-4) looks to bounce back with a midweek match at No. 57 Rice (6-2) at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

The Bears dropped their match at UCF on Sunday, 4-0. It snapped BU’s streak of eight-straight matches with the doubles point this season.

Baylor boasts the No. 1 doubles team in the nation in Alicia Herrero Linana and Mel Krywoj. The duo is 7-1 this spring.

In singles, Paula Barañano and Alina Shcherbinina lead the Bears with eight wins each. Anita Sahdiieva is close behind with seven.

Rice is coming off a 4-1 loss to No. 7 Texas A&M in College Station on Sunday. The Owls clinched the doubles point as their top doubles pair of Maria Budin and Diae El Jardi took down the Aggies’ third-ranked duo and are now 5-2 in their dual career against nationally-ranked opponents.

Overall, Baylor is 17-13 against Rice with the Bears winning the last 15 matchups.
