WACO, Texas – The Baylor track & field team landed two athletes to the Big 12 Conference weekly honors list, with Johnny Brackins winning Men’s Athlete of the Week and Ackera Nugent winning Women’s Co-Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.



Brackins’ award comes after an exceptional weekend in the long and triple jump events. In long jump, Brackins won with a 25-6 ¼ jump that’s ranked as the No. 1 mark in the country for the week. He also moved up to No. 2 on Baylor’s all-time performers’ list, behind only Lee Miles.



In his first-ever indoor triple jump competition, Brackins picked up another gold medal with a leap of 51-5 ¾.



Nugent’s honor comes after breaking the meet, facility and program records in the 60-meter hurdles at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational with a time of 7.9 seconds that ranks No. 2 nationally.



The defending NCAA Indoor national champion in the event, the sophomore shared the Women’s Athlete of the Week award with Julien Alfred of Texas and Monae’ Nichols of Texas Tech.



The Bears have their focus set on the next meet in Lexington, Ky., beginning on Friday.
