WACO, Texas – Baylor’s NaLyssa Smith was among 15 student-athletes named to the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Watch List by the Atlanta Tipoff Club on Tuesday.



The senior forward – who won the Wade Trophy and Katrina McClain awards a season ago – is averaging 0.9 steals and 1.1 blocks per game in addition to holding her defensive assignment to 31 percent shooting, according to Synergy.



Offensively, Smith is one of the best in the country, averaging a double-double of 20.2 points and 11.8 rebounds per game.
