LINCOLN, Neb. – The No. 2 Baylor men’s tennis team has added a match with Creighton at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday and will play Nebraska as planned on Thursday at 5 p.m., both in the Huskers’ Dillon Tennis Center.

The Bears have a storied history with Nebraska, playing just under 30 matches in the all-time series with the once Big 12 rival. Baylor leads the series 23-3 with the Huskers. On the flip side, this will be BU’s first-ever match with the Bluejays.

Creighton and Nebraska faced each other on Saturday, with the Huskers coming out on top, 7-0 over the Bluejays. It was the season opener for both squads.

The match with Creighton will be Baylor’s first of the season, as their first three scheduled matches were postponed.

In 2021, Creighton finished with a 6-7 record overall, while the Huskers went 2-16.

Baylor has hosted Nebraska in the last two meetings, and has not played in Lincoln since 2011. Last time out, BU swept the Huskers 7-0 to make it a 23-match win streak since the start of the series in 1990.

Five Bears return from 2021 roster that boasted a historic 34-5 season finish, concluding the season as NCAA runners-up. Baylor also welcomes four transfers in graduate Jacob Brumm (California), juniors Juan Pablo Grassi Mazzuchi (UCF) and Cole Gromley (Georgia Tech) and sophomore Tadeas Paroulek (TCU). Rounding out the squad are freshmen Justin Braverman, Marko Miladinović and Ethan Muza.

On the doubles court, Finn Bass and Sven Lah go into the season with a No. 18 ranking, while Lah is ranked at No. 48 in singles. Also ranked in singles is transfer Tadeas Paroulek at No. 81.

Michael Woodson steps into his second season at the helm of the national-contending program, his sixth year overall with the Bears. The reigning ITA Texas Region Coach of the Year is joined by Izak van der Merwe, the Region’s Assistant Coach of the Year, in his fourth season with the squad. Former Longhorn standout George Goldhoff enters his second season at Baylor as the volunteer assistant coach.

A full recap and final statistics will be posted to BaylorBears.com after the completion of each match. Live stats and live streams of Nebraska’s courts are available on the Bears’ schedule page, available only for Thursday’s matchup.

Following the midweek matches in Nebraska, BU returns home to welcome Boise State on Monday, Jan. 24, before hosting William & Mary, Clemson and Miami for ITA Kickoff Weekend on Jan. 30-31.
