Story lines

• Baylor Softball will host Prairie View A&M for a doubleheader, Tuesday Feb. 29 at Getterman Stadium. This will be the 10th time these two teams have met, with Baylor leading the all-time series 9-0. All but one of the previous matchups between these two teams have been at Getterman Stadium.

• This is the first meeting between the two teams since Feb. 14, 2020, where the Bears took the 7-4 win over the Panthers at home.

• BU is looking to continue with some of the momentum from this past weekend at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, where the Bears split the four games 2-2. Baylor defeated Loyola Marymount and San Diego in the Palm Springs tournament, while falling to Oregon State and No.6 UCLA.

• Offensively, the Bears have been hot recording 47 hits this past weekend and putting up 28 runs.

• In the Bears, 4-7 loss to No. 6 UCLA, Baylor recorded seven hits off of the Bruins starting pitcher who had an ERA of .063 before the weekend began. It was the second most hit the Bruins had allowed in a game this season.

• Leading the charge offensively is McKenzie Wilson who is leading the Big 12 currently in hits (23), triples (3) and stolen bases (7). She picked up nine of those hits last weekend, including going 4-for-4 at the plate against San Diego. She recorded a double, a triple, and a inside the park home run on the weekend while tacking on five RBI.

• Also coming up big this weekend were Sydney Collazos, Josie Bower and Emily Hott who are hitting .471 and better and combined for 19 hits at the Mary Nutter Classic. Collazos tallied eight hits and two doubles, the only player for Baylor with two doubles on the weekend. Bower and Hott each hit .500 starting or playing in all four games.

• Aliyah Binford and Dariana Orme both got starts over the weekend with Binford tossing 15 strikeouts over 9.0 innings and picking up a win for her performance against San Diego. Orme picked up 13 strikeouts while only issuing for walks in her 11.2 innings of work, while picking up her first save of the season.

• Binford is currently third in the Big 12 with strikeouts this season with 41, averaging 10.37 strikeouts per game.

• Also getting appearances in the circle this week were Maren Judisch, Rachel Hertenberger and Kaci West

• Shuffling the positions up this weekend, the Bears tried different field position to get the best feel of what worked best. This included Collazos playing almost every infield position, West starting three games at second base while moving Hott to left field. Freshman Emry McDonough, also started three games at shortstop.
