WACO, Texas – Baylor’s NaLyssa Smith was among 10 student-athletes named to the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Semifinalist List by the Atlanta Tipoff Club on Monday.



The senior forward – who won the Wade Trophy and Katrina McClain awards a season ago – is averaging 0.7 steals and 1.1 blocks per game in addition to holding her defensive assignment to 28.6 percent shooting and .609 points per possession, according to Synergy.



Offensively, Smith is one of the best in the country, averaging 21.6 points and 11.4 rebounds per game.
