No. 4 Baylor MT to Face No. 20 Oklahoma
Bears take on Sooners in Norman on Sunday afternoon

NORMAN, Okla. – No. 4 Baylor men’s tennis heads north to take on No. 20 Oklahoma in Norman on Sunday, with first serve set for 1 p.m. at either the Headington Family Tennis Center or the Wadley Indoor Pavilion.

Sunday’s match with the Sooners (11-1) begins a stretch of seven-straight road matches for the Bears (13-1).

BU comes off a semifinals loss to now-No. 1 ranked Tennessee at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, falling just short at 4-2 in Seattle. Baylor faced three SEC teams in its run: Ole Miss, Kentucky and the Volunteers. The loss snapped a 13-straight winning streak, the longest to start a season since 2005.

The Bears have four players ranked in singles and two doubles pairs ranked in the most recent ITA polls. Adrian Boitan is 28th, Sven Lah moved to 42nd, Tadeas Paroulek is now No. 106 and Matias Soto is No. 110. On the doubles side, Lah and Finn Bass are 19th, while Juan Pablo Grassi Mazzuchi and Soto are 24th.

Grassi Mazzuchi is now 11-1 for the dual season, including a perfect 6-0 record on court six. Boitan improved to 10-0 after the weekend, all coming on court one. Bass is 10-2 in dual matches, including a 3-0 record on court three, 2-1 on court four and 5-1 on court five. Soto is now 6-2 in dual play, 5-2 when playing in the second position. Lah is 7-3 in the spring while Marko Miladinović is 4-2. Paroulek remains 3-0 on the spring, all on court six.

The Sooners are coming off a 7-0 win over No. 18 Texas A&M on Friday night. Previously, OU swept Drake at 7-0 in Norman. All but two of Oklahoma’s matches have been on their home courts, with two being played on neutral courts. Four of OU’s 12 matches overall have been sweeps. The Sooners have three players ranked in singles in the most recent ITA polls, with Mason Beiler at No. 29, Jordan Hasson ranked 70th and Mark Mandlik at 88th.
