Story lines

• Baylor Softball stays on the road for a midweek matchup against the Lumberjacks of Stephen F. Austin.

• This game marks the 57th matchup between these two programs with Baylor leading the all-time record 37-19. The matchup is the fifth of the season for the Bears and the sixth for the Lumberjacks. SFA leads the record in Nacogdoches 9-5, as Baylor looks to pick up its fifth straight road win this season. These two programs last met on March 16, 2021 in Waco as the Bears took the 3-2 victory.

• BU is coming off a 4-0 start to the season at the Lady Demon Classic in Natchitoches, La. This marks the Bears first perfect start to a season since 2018. The Bears defeated UT Martin (8-6), tournament host Northwestern St. (5-0), Chattanooga (10-5), and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (10-0).

• In Baylor’s 5-0 win over Northwestern State, Aliyah Binford dealt a complete-game shutout while only allowing two hits and striking out 11. Her 11 strikeouts are a new career high.

• Sydney Collazos made an impact on opening weekend, recording her first career home run and the first long ball this season for the Bears. Her solo shot gave Baylor the 4-0 advantage over Northwestern State.

• The top two in the batting order all weekend for the Bears McKenzie Wilson and Emily Hott both started the season off with hot bats as Wilson recorded seven hits and Hott had five. Wilson showed off her speed as she recorded a stand-up double and triple on the weekend and went 3-3 in stolen bases. Hott also went 3-3 in stolen bases with a home run and a double.

• Two freshmen got starts this weekend as Rylie Bouvier started two games at third base and Kaci West was the starting pitcher in the matchup against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. West pitched a complete run-rule game only allowing one hit and striking out six. Bouvier recorded a hit and two walks in her outings with three assists.

• Dariana Orme got her debut start at Baylor against UT Martin as she went 4.2 innings with a career high seven strikeouts.

• Five total freshmen saw playing time this past weekend as well as Taylor Strain who did not play last season. Strain started all four games in left field.

• The same three batters led off every game this past weekend for the Bears, Emily Hott, McKenzie Wilson, and Ana Watson
• All four transfers and 20 of the teams 21 players saw playing time at the Lady Demon Classic.
