WACO, Texas – Baylor’s NaLyssa Smith was named the Big 12 Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon. It marked the second weekly award of the season for Smith and the fifth of her career.

The senior forward averaged 26.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and shot 61.3 percent from the field last week. Smith scored 22 points in 28 minutes off 9-of-12 shooting in Baylor’s win over Kansas State before she tied her career high with 30 points to go with 12 boards, and a pair each of assists and blocks in the win over West Virginia.

The Converse, Texas, native is the only player in the country to average 21+ points (21.1) and 11+ rebounds (11.2) this season. She has 16 double-doubles on the season which ranks seventh nationally and leads the league. That mark ties her for 10th in program history for single-season double-doubles.
