No. 2 Baylor MT Moves Match with No. 9 Texas to Monday

WACO, Texas – The No. 2 Baylor men’s tennis program rescheduled the match with No. 9 Texas, announced Thursday.

The match, originally scheduled for Friday, Feb. 4 at 6 p.m., will now be played on Monday, Feb. 7, at 6 p.m. at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center. It will be a non-conference matchup for the teams.

The Bears, 6-0, have a long history with Texas, 4-2, as there are 70 matches all-time between the programs. The Longhorns lead the series, 45-25. BU won the last match at 4-0 on April 26, 2021. The programs played four matches against each other in 2021 alone, Baylor clinching three of the four.

BU has had five sweeps in six matches this season, bringing the program to 22 sweeps overall under head coach Michael Woodson. The Bears have faced Creighton, Nebraska, Abilene Christian, Boise State, William & Mary and Miami so far.

No. 18-ranked doubles team Finn Bass and Sven Lah remain 5-0 on the season in dual play, with Lah earning his 100th doubles win against Boise State on Jan. 24. The senior is ranked 48th in singles play, currently 4-0 in dual matches.

Newcomer Juan Pablo Grassi Mazzuchi is 6-0 in singles play, leading the team, while Bass is 5-0 and Adrian Boitan joins Lah at 4-0. Grassi Mazzuchi and Matias Soto are 4-0 in doubles, while Boitan and Tadeas Paroulek are 2-0.

Baylor will face Idaho State and Incarnate Word on Sunday, Feb. 6, at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., respectively, before facing UT on Monday.
