Baylor Soccer Picked Seventh in Big 12 Preseason Poll

IRVING, Texas – Baylor soccer was picked to finish seventh in the 2022 Big 12 Soccer Preseason Poll, released Tuesday by the conference office.

Defending Big 12 champion TCU is the preseason favorite, with seven first-place votes and 78 points. Texas and West Virginia each received one first place vote, with the Longhorns totaling 66 points for second place and West Virginia with 60 points for third place.

Texas Tech (53), Oklahoma State (49) and Oklahoma (40) are picked to finish third through sixth, respectively, as the Sooners pick up the last first place vote. With the Bears at seventh place, Kansas (30), Iowa State (24) and Kansas State (16) round out the poll.

The Bears are coming off of a 4-2-3 Big 12 season in 2021 with four of nine matches ending in a shutout for the Baylor defense. BU was selected seventh in last season’s preseason poll and finished the season third in the conference.

Baylor will open the regular season this Thursday, Aug. 18, against Minnesota at 7 p.m. at Betty Lou Mays Field.
