No. 1 Baylor A&T Collects Individual Event Titles

EUGENE, Ore. – No. 1 Baylor acrobatics & tumbling earned four individual event titles on Saturday in Matthew Knight Arena ahead of the National Championship at 9 p.m. CT.

The first event to take a title for the day was the seven-element acro, with Bayley Humphrey as the base, Jordan Gruendler as the top and Tori Harris as the counter. They won the title with a score of 9.750, besting four others to win.

BU took the Inversion Pyramid title with a score of 9.90, overtaking five other teams for the victory. Gruendler serves as the top with Humphrey as her mid-level base. The main bases were Katherine Shiffer, Briana Harris, Kate Puentes, Raffaela Scotto, Faith Coor, Tori Harris and Alayja Reynolds served as the counter.

In the trio pass, Katie Shiffer, Aundria Crittenden and Tori Harris took the title with a score of 9.250 over four other teams.

Rounding out the individual event champions, graduate Briana Harris scored a 9.925 in the open pass to earn the title.

Overall, the Bears competed in 12 of the 15 heats. They competed in five, six and seven-element acro, inversion, synchronized and open pyramid, synchronized and open toss, as well as the duo, trio, Emily Tobin’s six-element and Briana Harris’ open tumbling passes.

NEXT UP
The Bears face third-seed Gannon for the title with a start time set for 9 p.m. CT at Matthew Knight Arena. It’s the Golden Knight’s first time competing for an NCATA Championship.
