WACO, Texas – Baylor head coach Nicki Collen announced the signing of transfer Dre’Una Edwards from Kentucky on Saturday afternoon.

“I am extremely excited to welcome Dree and her family to the Baylor family,” Collen said. “Everyone knows Dree from the game-winning shot she hit for Kentucky in the SEC Championship game, but Dree’s success began her freshman year at Utah when she was the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year. She has handled adversity, including a season-ending ACL injury, and matured and grown into a person and player I am excited to coach and lead.

“Dree is a true inside-outside threat who will give us great versatility with her size, strength and skill. Her ability to handle the ball and shoot it will create great spacing in our system. She loves the game of basketball and loves to compete. Dree is majoring in social work with a goal of working in the juvenile justice system. Dree comes from an amazing family, and our fans will love getting to know her parents, Andre and Shonnise.”

The 6-foot-2 forward was unstoppable for Kentucky during its 10-game winning streak toward the end of the season. During that stretch, Edwards averaged 20.5 points per game, including a career-high 30 at Missouri and 27 against South Carolina. She finished the season second on the team in scoring with 16.8 points per game off 44.1 percent shooting from the field.

Edwards saw her first action for the Wildcats in 2020-21 as she averaged 9.7 points and 6.1 rebounds in 27 games with 11 starts. This came after she sat out the 2019-20 season due to transfer rules while recovering from an ACL injury.

The Compton, Calif., native made her collegiate debut at Utah, where she was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year after averaging 11.6 points and 6.7 rebounds.

Edwards was a two-time Southwest League Player of the Year for Liberty High School in Las Vegas, averaging 18.4 points, 10.3 rebounds, 3.9 steals and 1.7 blocks per game as a senior.
