No. 21 Baylor WT Closes Regular Season Against No. 4 Texas

WACO, Texas – No. 21 Baylor women’s tennis (15-6, 6-2) hosts its final regular season match against No. 4 Texas (16-4, 7-1) at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Hurd Tennis Center.



The Bears are a match behind the Longhorns in the Big 12 standings. Oklahoma sits atop the league, followed by Oklahoma State, Texas and Baylor. BU and Texas are each riding two-match win streaks.



These two teams faced each other in early February during the indoor portion of the season. The Longhorns prevailed, 4-2. However, Baylor was the first team to win a point this year against Texas.



BU claimed the doubles point before freshman Alina Shcherbinina won her match on court three.



Since then, these two squads are putting up similar numbers. Baylor is 13-3 since that match on Feb. 2, while Texas is 11-4.



The Bears continue to be led by the No. 4 doubles team in the country, Mel Krywoj and Alicia Herrero. The duo is 21-4 on the season and was ranked as high as No. 1 in late February.



Krywoj and Herrero, along with Paula Barañano, will be honored during a Senior Day ceremony following the match. Krywoj and Herrero will depart after this season to pursue professional tennis careers, while Barañano plans to return to Baylor to use her extra year of eligibility.
