THE RUNDOWN
LAWRENCE, Kan. – Baylor softball came from behind to take down the Jayhawks, 10-3, Friday afternoon at Arrocha Ballpark.

The Bears got behind early in the contest, falling behind 3-0 to the Jayhawks after three innings.

Aliyah Binford got Baylor on the board for the first time in the top of the fourth, on a solo home run to right-center field, her second long ball this season.

With two Jayhawks on in the fifth, reliever Maren Judisch came in and got the Bears out of the inning.

The Bears came up big in the sixth inning, loading the bases twice and scoring seven runs. Josie Bower led things off with a single before Binford reached on a fielder’s choice and Sydney Collazos walked. Kaci West singled to load the bases, then a walk was issued to Zadie LaValley to plate the first run of the inning.

Continuing the sixth inning, Kendall Cross reached on a fielder’s choice, erasing the runner at home, but Ana Watson’s single up the middle plated West and pinch runner Rhein Trochim to give the Bears the 4-3 lead. After a wild pitch advanced the runners and Wilson was issued a walk, Emily Hott reached on an error that scored two. Bower followed that up with a bases-clearing single that scored two more to give Baylor the 8-3 lead.

Shutting the Jayhawks down in the bottom of the sixth, Baylor added two more runs on in the top of the seventh to take the emphatic 10-3 win over Kansas.

TOP QUOTES
Glenn Moore on the game…
“It took a while to get going and Hamilton was very good today. We haven’t quit all year and have had situations where many teams would have. It’s good to see it pay off finally. I’m proud of the fight. Now we must build on that.
