WACO, Texas – No. 11 Baylor volleyball’s Elise McGhee has earned her first Big 12 weekly award, being named Rookie of the Week by the Conference on Tuesday.

McGhee, a San Antonio native, had a productive series against West Virginia, recording eight kills, three digs and four total blocks on the weekend.

In the first match with WVU, she had three kills and three blocks, a career-high, for five points.

The freshman had five kills with a .308 hitting percentage and recorded three digs in the second match with the Mountaineers.

McGhee joins Yossiana Pressley and Avery Skinner as Big 12 weekly award recipients this season, bringing Baylor’s total of honorees in 2021 to four. Pressley was named Offensive Player of the Week on Aug. 31 and Oct. 19, while Skinner earned the same title on Sept. 28.

The last Bear to have earned Rookie of the Week was her sister, Kara McGhee, in 2019.
