Baylor VB Earns Big 12 End-of-Year Awards
Sedwick named Setter of the Year, three others selected to First Team

WACO, Texas – No. 6 Baylor volleyball had five student-athletes earn end of year awards from the Big 12 Conference, announced Tuesday.

Senior Hannah Sedwick headlines the Bears’ awards, being named Big 12 Setter of the Year as well as being First Team All-Conference. This season, Sedwick moved into the No. 4 spot on BU’s all-time career assists list with 4,659 going into the postseason. She has recorded 915 assists so far this season and was third in the Big 12 with 9.95 assists per set. This is the Iowa native’s second Setter of the Year award, as she earned it previously in 2019. She is the only Baylor player to have earned the award since its inception in 2012. It is her third time being named All-Conference, her second time on First Team.

Seniors Yossiana Pressley and Avery Skinner were both unanimous first-team selections. Both were named unanimous Preseason All-Big 12 as well. This is Pressley’s fifth unanimous First Team selection and Skinner’s first after transferring from Kentucky.

Pressley ended the regular season as the all-time career kills leader for the Bears, finishing with 2,341 kills overall, while also leading the conference with 4.48 kills per set. In addition, she is the career leader for BU in total attempts with 5,684. Her two weekly awards this season extended her reign for earning the most weekly awards in Big 12 history. Skinner also recorded a major milestone, hitting her 1,000th career kill this season.

Lauren Harrison was named First Team All-Big 12, her second time earning the accolade. She was a unanimous selection in 2020. This season, she had 211 kills with 2.60 kills per set and a .271 hitting percentage. Harrison also recorded 38 total blocks with 34 digs.

Elise McGhee’s Big 12 All-Freshman Team selection makes her the ninth Baylor player to earning the award. The San Antonio, Texas, native played in 28 sets this season with 26 kills and 14 blocks. The last Bear named to the team was her sister, Kara McGhee, in 2019.

NEXT UP
Baylor is the No. 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament, hosting Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Northern Colorado and Washington State for the First and Second Rounds. The first matches will be played on Thursday, Dec. 2 with the winner of the two matches playing on Friday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m. The Bears play TAMU-CC at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
