Baylor Softball Adds Four to Signing Class
Bears add three from Texas, one from New Mexico

WACO, Texas – The Baylor softball team added four student-athletes in the 2022 signing class, announced by head coach Glenn Moore on Thursday.

Three of the 2022 signees are from Texas, while one hails from New Mexico. All four are scheduled to enroll next fall and will be eligible for the 2023 spring season.

“In a year where we are loaded with underclassmen and lose only two athletes, this class is exceptional and will add quality athletes to an already strong roster,” Moore said. “We are blessed to be able to sign this level of talent.  The talent in this class is only rivaled by their character and academic success.”

Jensen Vienne
Outfield/Utility, Huntsville, Texas, Huntsville High School, Hotshots Premier

Jensen Vienne joins the Bears out of Huntsville, Texas, and Huntsville High School. She played for Hotshots Premier under Nathan Nelson.

Vienne is an all-district outfielder who boosted her team to an undefeated district championship in 2021, when she was named the district MVP. She currently has 20 home runs, 105 RBIs and 28 doubles with a career slugging percentage of .843.

“Jensen can spray power to all fields.  She is clutch hitter and hits when it matters most.  Jensen can play outfield and both corners.”

RyLee Crandall
Pitcher, Artesia N.M., Artesia High School, Texas Glory

Rylee Crandall joins the Bears out of Artesia, N.M., and Artesia High School. She played for Texas Glory under Kevin Shelton.

Crandall racked up multiple awards during her time at Artesia as she was named the 2021 New Mexico Gatorade Player of the Year and MaxPreps Best Player in New Mexico two years in a row. She helped lead her team to three-straight state championships. She has a 37-2 win-loss record with 431 strikeouts.

Moore on Crandall…
“Rylee has a pitching style that coaches love. She is a blue-collar pitcher who has been trained to compete on both offense and defense.  I describe her as an architect of pitching. She has many tools and can get batters out in different ways. She hates to lose.”

Ellington Whitaker
Catcher/Infield, Houston, Texas, The Kinkaid School, Hotshots Premier

Ellington Whitaker joins the Bears out of Houston, Texas, and The Kinkaid School. She played for Hotshots Premier under Nathan Nelson.

Whitaker was a standout in the Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC), helping lead her team to third-place finishes at state twice. She was named to the All SPC South-Zone softball team three years. Whitaker finished her junior season with a 1.000 slugging percentage.

Moore on Whitaker…
“E is a pure hitter but also an all-around great athlete. While she is a powerful hitter, she works the count and is a very tough out. She is an intelligent player with tremendous intensity and will not be outworked.”

Abigail Flores
Catcher/Infield, Beaumont, Texas, Beaumont United, Texas Bombers Gold

Abigail Whitaker joins the Bears out of Beaumont, Texas, and Beaumont United. She played for Texas Bombers Gold under Scott Smith.

Flores helped lead her team and was named 6A first-team all-district and 5A second-team all-district during her high school career.

Moore on Flores…
“Abbie is a versatile player with great offensive potential at the college level. She also has exceptional foot work and a great arm.  She will give us several options.”
