WACO, Texas – The Baylor women’s basketball team begins the 2021-22 season ranked No. 8 in the USA Today/WBCA preseason poll that was released Wednesday morning.



It marks the 12th-straight year that the Bears have been selected in the top 10 of the preseason coaches poll. Of the 18-straight years that Baylor has been ranked in the preseason coaches poll, the Bears have been outside of the top-eight only four times.



South Carolina comes in as the top seed, edging defending national champion Stanford by five points. After the Cardinal, UConn, N.C. State and Maryland round out the top five. Louisville and Indiana come in sixth and seventh, respectively, before the Bears in eighth.



Baylor is one of four Big 12 schools to be ranked in the preseason poll, along with No. 16 Iowa State, No. 21 Texas and No. 23 West Virginia
