Baylor Track & Field Lands 40 on Academic All-Big 12 Teams
Thirty-four student-athletes named to first team


WACO, Texas – Forty Baylor student-athletes were named to the 2021 Academic All-Big 12 Track & Field Team, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Twenty-three members of the women's team earned first-team honors, including Mazie Larsen, who was one of 53 to register a 4.00 grade point average. Madelyn Agnew, Brooke Bonadies, Brooke Botha, Megan Daley, Jacinta Fisher, Briana Garcia, Sadie Hamrin, Celia Holmes, Jamie Holodak, Venae Jessurun, Madelaine Johnston, Moorea Long, Alex Madlock, Aaliyah Miller, Tiffani Peacock, Frances Rice, TT Sanders, Tuesdi Tidwell, Samone Turner, Sydney Washington, Sarah Yocum and Lindsay Zatta were all first-team selections, as well. Demitra Carter, Alyssa Miller and Caira Pettway earned spots on the second team to give the women's team a total of 26 on the two teams.

Eleven from the men's team took home first-team accolades as Connor Laktasic was one of 16 in the conference to hold perfect 4.00 grade point averages. Alec Atteberry, Ian Braxton, Ryan Croson, Ryan Day, Ryan Hodge, Kade Hulett, Eli Morris, Chris Stoudt, Cameron Turner and Carson Yarbrough joined Laktasic on the first team. Elijah Gifford, Cole Hardan and Philip Roxas earned second-team awards to give the men's team a total of 14 honorees.

A total of 435 Big 12 student-athletes earned recognition on the team, including 173 on the men's team (140 first team and 33 second team) and 262 on the women's squad (235 first team and 27 second team).

First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second-team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team’s scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
