Baylor Men’s Golf Finishes Sixth at Stillwater Regional
Bears come up one stroke short of fifth-straight NCAA Championship appearance

STILLWATER, Okla. – Baylor men’s golf came up one stroke short of advancing to a fifth-straight NCAA Championship, as the Bears tied for sixth place at 16-over-par 880 in the NCAA Stillwater Regional at Karsten Creek Golf Course.



Baylor (+16) shot 16-over 304 in the final round and were sitting above the cutline when they finished their round Tuesday, but all five Little Rock (+15) players made birdie on the 18th hole to leap the Trojans ahead of the Bears into fifth place, clinching the final NCAA Championship berth awarded in Stillwater.



Regional-host No. 4 Oklahoma State (-28), No. 9 Illinois (-14), No. 21 SMU (E), No. 49 Sam Houston (+12) and Little Rock (+15) earned NCAA Championship berths. The Bears finished tied for sixth place with No. 15 Auburn (+16) and ahead of No. 30 Notre Dame (+20), Northwestern (+25), No. 44 Ole Miss (+27), College of Charleston (+37), Middle Tennessee State (+39) and No. 35 Alabama (+41).



Baylor’s best final-round scores came from Cooper Dossey and Ryan Grider, who both carded 1-over 73. Johnny Keefer contributed a 6-over 78, and Colin Kober shot 8-over 80 to post the Bears’ final counting score.



Grider tied for eighth place at 3-under 213 and finished one shot back of earning the individual NCAA Championship berth awarded to the top individual on a non-advancing team. Dossey tied for 30th place at 6-over 222, Keefer took 38th place at 9-over 225 and Kober and Reppe tied for 50th place at 13-over 229.



Baylor made its 23rd-consecutive NCAA Regional appearance, but had their school-record streak snapped at four-straight NCAA Championship berths. Grider finished the season with a team-best 73.03 stroke average across 30 rounds, posting a team-best four top-10 individual finishes. Dossey was second on the team with a 73.14 stroke average across 22 rounds, and Keefer finished third with a 73.17 stroke average over 24 rounds.



STAT OF THE DAY I

71.84 – Cooper Dossey finished his Baylor career with a 71.84 stroke average across 134 rounds, which was the second-best career stroke average in program history behind only Jimmy Walker’s 71.55. Dossey’s 134 rounds were ninth-most in program history, while he tied for ninth with 14 career top-10 finishes and tied for eighth with seven career top-5 finishes.



STAT OF THE DAY II

73.12 – Colin Kober finished his BU career with a 73.12 stroke average across 99 rounds, which was the 12th-best career scoring average in program history.



STAT OF THE DAY III

73.38 – Ryan Grider wrapped up his Baylor career with a 73.38 stroke average over 97 rounds, which was the 15th-best mark in school history.



WHAT’S NEXT

Baylor has completed the 2020-21 season. The Bears will lose Cooper Dossey, Colin Kober, Ryan Grider and Travis McInroe to graduation, but return eight members of this season’s team for 2021-22, including Mark Reppe, Johnny Keefer and Luke Dossey, who were among the Bears’ lineup and alternate for postseason play.
