STORYLINES

AN OPPORTUNITY TO BOUNCE BACK

  *   No. 6 Baylor will look to rebound following last week's four-set loss at No. 2 Texas with two road matches this week.
  *   Three of Baylor's four losses in 2020-21 have come against the second-ranked Longhorns.
  *   Last week's four-set match was BU's first loss in less than five sets since the 2019 NCAA National Semifinals against No. 5 Wisconsin (L, 3-1).
  *   BU will look to improve upon its 2-1 record following a loss this season as they take on Texas State in San Marcos on Wednesday.
  *   Baylor will rematch with North Texas on Friday, this time in Denton, after the two sides recently met on Feb. 26 in Waco.

AGAINST THE BOBCATS

  *   Baylor holds a six-match winning streak over Texas State, dating back to 2013.
  *   However, TXST leads the all-time series 21-16-1.
  *   BU is 5-7 all-time against the Bobcats in San Marcos.
  *   This will be the first matchup between the Bears and Bobcats in San Marcos since 2016.
  *   Under sixth-year head coach Ryan McGuyre<https://baylorbears.com/coaches.aspx?rc=1563>, the Bears are 5-0 against TXST.

AGAINST THE MEAN GREEN

  *   The Bears are 21-8 all-time against North Texas, including a 3-0 win in Waco on Feb. 26 to resume the 2020-21 season.
  *   In the McGuyre era, the Bears are 4-0 against UNT.
  *   BU has won 21 of the last 22 meetings between the two sides.
  *   In their most recent contest, Baylor swept the Mean Green at the Ferrell Center as the Bears held UNT to just a -.019 hitting percentage.

IMMEDIATE IMPACT

  *   After just two matches as a Bear, senior MB Preslie Anderson<https://baylorbears.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=10553> was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week on Wednesday, March 3.
  *   The graduate transfer tallied 12 blocks in BU's spring-opening two matches, averaging 1.5 per set in the wins over North Texas and Pepperdine.
  *   Anderson recorded a solo block in each of the two contests, helping BU to its eighth double-digit blocking performance of the year against the Waves.
  *   She was key in Baylor holding its opponents to -.019 and .133 hitting percentages on the weekend.
  *   After spending three seasons in the Pac-12, Anderson earned her first career weekly conference honor.
  *   It was BU's eighth Big 12 award of the season, a conference best.

SPRINGING BACK INTO ACTION

  *   Baylor opened its spring season with two victories over North Texas and Pepperdine.
  *   The Bears took care of unranked UNT with a 3-0 sweep, holding the Mean Green to a -.019 hitting percentage in the match.
  *   BU started strong, going off for 17 kills on a .467 efficiency in the first set.
  *   Then, Baylor outlasted a tough Pepperdine squad, 3-2.
  *   14 total blocks propelled the BU defense past the Waves.
  *   Pepperdine has since moved from unranked to No. 24 in the lastest AVCA Coaches Poll.
  *   Last week, BU fell to No. 2 Texas in four sets for just its fourth loss of the season.
  *   The Bears hit just .194, their second-lowest output of the 2020-21 campaign.
