STORY LINES
• Baylor hits the road for a 11-game road stretch as the Lady Bears return to the state of Louisiana this weekend. BU will face No. 13 Louisiana in Lafayette on Thursday before taking part in the Louisiana Tech Invitational over the weekend, facing the Lady Techsters and Tarleton State.
• The top four hitters in the Baylor lineup have showed some pop eight games into the 2021 season. So far, the four spots have combined to hit .357. Nicky Dawson<https://baylorbears.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=10380> has been a constant in the leadoff spot, while Lou Gilbert<https://baylorbears.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=10383> has backed her up for a back-to-back lefty attack. The trio of Goose McGlaun<https://baylorbears.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=10389>, Aliyah Binford<https://baylorbears.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=10397> and Josie Bower<https://baylorbears.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=10378> have rotated through the three and four spots in the lineup.
• This weekend marks the first games at Dr. Billy Bundrick Field for Louisiana Tech. The softball field, along with the baseball and soccer facilities, were destroyed after a tornado tore through Ruston, La., in April 2019. Construction began nearly a year ago on March 11.
• Goose McGlaun<https://baylorbears.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=10389> was named one of 30 candidates for the 2021 Senior CLASS Award. McGlaun is the fourth selection to the preliminary list by a Lady Bear, joining Carlee Wallace, Heather Stearns and Kaitlyn Thumann.
• After 20 seasons as an assistant coach for the Lady Bears, Mark Lumley retired in October before he passed away in December after his fourth bout with cancer. The Baylor players and coaching staff will all be wearing blue ribbons in his honor. This season is for Lum.
