WACO, Texas – Baylor was one of 94 Division I baseball programs to earn the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award, as announced by the organization.

As a team, the Bears compiled a 3.37 cumulative GPA for the entire 2020-21 academic year. The Bears have now earned the prestigious team honor in all six seasons under head coach Steve Rodriguez.

Baylor was one of four Big 12 programs to receive the award, along with Kansas, Oklahoma State and Texas.

Baylor set a program record with a 3.34 GPA for the fall team, and then bested that with a 3.40 mark for the spring.

Additionally, the Bears had 18 Academic All-Big 12 selections, including 16 first-team honorees, one shy of the program’s all-time best.
