WACO, Texas – Baylor baseball has added catcher Ian Groves to the 2022 roster, head coach Steve Rodriguez announced Tuesday.

A transfer from Tarleton, Groves hit .269 over the course of two seasons with the Texans. He notched 32 hits, including six home runs, six doubles and two triples with 29 RBIs. The Austin native appeared in 47 games throughout the 2020 and 2021 seasons with 32 starts.

Previously, Groves played two seasons at Paris Junior College, where he was a 2019 All-Conference catcher and Academic All-American. He racked up 19 home runs in his first two collegiate seasons for the Dragons.
