WACO, Texas – Baylor women’s golf grad transfer Elodie Chapelet has been selected as Big 12 Conference Women’s Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year, as announced Thursday by the conference office.

Chapelet joins Laura Lonardi (2015 and 2016) to give the program a trio of Big 12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards. With three Big 12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors, Baylor women’s golf ranks second among all BU sports, trailing only the baseball program’s four such honorees. Baylor’s 26 all-time Big 12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year selections are second-most in conference history.

A Souraide, France, native, Chapelet graduated in May with a Master’s in sport management and a 3.72 GPA. She also was named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team and was a Big 12 All-Tournament Team selection.

On the course, Chapelet was one of three Bears to compete in all 37 rounds this season. She finished second on the team with a 72.19 stroke average, which was the second-best single-season mark in program history. Chapelet currently holds the Baylor career stroke average record with a 72.28 mark across 60 rounds. She finished tied for seventh on the Bears’ all-time list with six top-5 finishes and tied for 10th with 11 top-10 results.

In her final year of collegiate competition, Chapelet posted nine top-20 individual finishes, including winning medalist honors at the Cowgirl Classic. She helped the Bears earn their first No. 1 ranking in program history as they started the season with a Big 12-record five-consecutive tournament titles.

Chapelet also finished tied for second at the Kissing Tree Invitational, tied for third at the Trinity Forest Invitational, fifth at the Schooner Fall Classic, tied for ninth at the Big 12 Championship and 10th at the Lone Star Invitational, giving her six top-10 finishes out of 12 tournaments played.

She led the Bears in par-3 scoring average at 3.00, par-or-better percentage at 83.0 and total pars at 446, and she ranked second on the team in par-4 scoring at 4.09.

Over her two-year Baylor career, Chapelet recorded 27 of 60 rounds at par or better and counted 90.1 percent of her rounds toward the team score. She placed top-25 individual in 15 of 20 tournaments with the Bears. Chapelet was named honorable mention All-America in 2020 by both Golfweek and the WGCA.

Baylor finished the 2020-21 season ranked No. 9 nationally by Golfweek and No. 15 by Golfstat. The Bears finished 14th at the NCAA Championship, earning their fourth top-15 in six NCAA Championships since the Bears earned the program’s first top-15 national finish in 2015.
