OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Baylor softball’s senior first baseman Goose McGlaun was named as one of 30 candidates among NCAA softball student-athletes to be considered for the 2021 Senior CLASS Award, recognizing excellence both on and off the field.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

McGlaun crushed her way onto the national collegiate softball scene as a freshman when she cranked a three-run homer over the center field wall in the top of the seventh inning to send Baylor to the 2017 Women’s College World Series over two-seed Arizona in Tucson. She is currently in sole possession of sixth place all-time in the Baylor record books with 29 career home runs. The clean-up hitter was a member of the 2018 NFCA All-Central Region Second Team and has received All-Big 12 accolades every season at Baylor.

McGlaun graduated in December with her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Physical Education/Sport Pedagogy. She is a three-time member of the Academic All-Big 12 First Team and has been named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll every semester she's been at Baylor.

McGlaun is the fourth selection to the preliminary list by a Lady Bear, joining Carlee Wallace, Heather Stearns and Kaitlyn Thumann. Thumann earned first team All-America honors as a top-five finalist, while Stearns was named to the Top 10, garnering second team recognition.

The 30 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists in March, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character and competition.

The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2021 Women’s College World Series.
