WACO, Texas – Baylor equestrian junior Madaline Callaway was named the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) Reining Rider of the Month for January, as announced Wednesday by the organization.

Callaway is the second Reining selection in program history and first national honoree of the season for the Bears. This is her first-career monthly accolade.

The Loveland, Colo. native opened her 2021 season in style with Most Outstanding Performance honors against No. 7 Texas A&M, winning her point against Marissa Harrell.

In the final ride of the day against the Aggies, Callaway laid down a stellar performance to tie the competition 9-9. Her score of 74, against the 70.5 posted by her opponent, was the highest score of the event and largest point spread of the meet in Reining.

Callaway and the Bears will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 6 against No. 7 TCU at the Willis Family Equestrian Center.
