Baylor Women’s Golf Leads After First Day at Trinity Forest
Bears lead by 13 strokes late in second round

THE RUNDOWN
DALLAS – Baylor women’s golf holds a 13-shot lead late in the second round at the Trinity Forest Invitational. Play was suspended due to darkness on Monday, and teams will return to the course Tuesday morning to finish the second round and continue play into the final round.



Baylor (-4) leads the 14-team field, with only Oklahoma State (+9) and Texas (+14) within 30 strokes. BYU (+29) and Tulsa (+29) are tied for fourth, followed by Texas Tech (+31), Kansas State (+32), Washington (+34), UTSA (+37), SMU (+41), Memphis (+42), Chattanooga (+43), Nebraska (+47) and Missouri State (+48).



Three of the top four individuals are Baylor players. Freshman Rosie Belsham is in second place, three shots back of the lead in the 74-player field at 2-under. Belsham shot 3-under 69 in the first round and 1-over thru 15 holes in the second round. Redshirt freshman Hannah Karg is in third place at 1-under after a morning round of even-par 72 followed by 1-under thru 15 in the second round. Elodie Chapelet is fourth at even-par following 3-under 69 in the first round and 3-over thru 15 in the second.



Freshman Britta Snyder is tied for 10th place at 4-over, climbing 37 spots on the leaderboard by following a 7-over 79 in the first round with 3-under thru 15 holes in the second round. Gurleen Kaur is tied for 14th place at 5-over with a 2-over 74 in the first round and 3-over thru 15 in the second round.



Baylor had an eight-shot lead after carding 4-under 284 in the first round, and the Bears have expanded their lead by playing even-par thru 15 holes in the second round, while all other teams are at least 4-over in both the first and second rounds.


HIGHLIGHTS

  *   Baylor leads the tournament in par-5 scoring at 19-under 4.53, is tied for the lead in par-3 scoring at 1-over 3.03 and ranks second in par-4 scoring at 24-over 4.28.
  *   Baylor also leads the tournament with 33 birdies and two eagles, and the Bears are second with 93 pars.
  *   Chapelet is tied for second in par-5 scoring at 4-under 4.50, while Kaur and Karg are tied for fifth at 3-under 4.67.
  *   Chapelet and Karg are tied for second in par-4 scoring at 3-over 4.18.
  *   Karg is tied for third in the field in par-3 scoring at 1-under 2.88.
  *   Belsham and Chapelet are tied for second with eight birdies, while Karg is tied for fourth with seven birdies and Snyder is tied for eighth with six birdies.
  *   Kaur and Belsham both made eagles, making BU the only team with multiple eagles.

STAT OF THE DAY
4.13 – Belsham leads the 74-player field in par-5 scoring at 7-under 4.13, which is three shots better than any other player. She made birdie on all four par-5 holes in the first round and made an eagle, a birdie and two pars on those holes in the second round.
