WACO, Texas – Baylor women’s tennis announced its spring schedule on Wednesday. Along with hosting the ITA Kickoff in January, the Bears are slated to face seven non-conference opponents at home before opening Big 12 play.
“This year’s schedule will provide plenty of challenges for us, which is exactly what we need,” head coach Joey Scrivano said. “Our home matches will be very entertaining for our fans, with plenty of Top 25 teams and Power 5 programs like Washington, Washington State and Mississippi State coming to Waco. Some of the best college tennis will be played at the Hurd Tennis Center.”
Baylor’s schedule begins at the Bella the Ball Collegiate Invitational. The four-team tournament will be played Jan. 15-17 in Las Vegas at the Darling Tennis Center. The Bears will face BYU, Arizona and Illinois in a round-robin tournament.
BU returns home to host the ITA Kickoff on Jan. 28-30.
The Bears travel to face Texas in non-conference action on Feb. 3 before welcoming Washington State and Washington on Feb. 5 and Feb. 6, respectively.
The ITA National Indoor Championships will be played Feb. 11-14. Baylor hosts Texas A&M on Feb. 12.
BU welcomes SMU (Feb. 18) and Mississippi State (Feb. 20) before traveling to the Sunshine State to play Florida (Feb. 25) and UCF (Feb. 27).
Baylor begins the month of March at Rice (March 2) and hosts a doubleheader against North Texas and Abilene Christian on March 6 to close out non-conference action.
Big 12 play starts on March 11 against TCU. The Bears play Texas Tech two days later before closing out the month with four-straight road matches – at Iowa State (March 18), at West Virginia (March 20), at Oklahoma (March 25) and at Oklahoma State (March 27).
Baylor hosts Kansas State on April 8 and Kansas on April 10 before the regular-season finale against Texas on April 16.
The Big 12 Championship will take place at TCU from April 21-24.
After the NCAA First and Second Rounds are hosted at campus sites to be determined, the Women’s Tennis Championships will take place May 19-28 in Champaign, Ill.
