Baylor Men’s Golf Finishes Sixth at Big 12 Championship

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Baylor men’s golf remained took sixth place at the 2021 Big 12 Championship with a score of 38-over-par 1,158 across four rounds at Prairie Dunes Country Club. The Bears posted a final-round score of 4-over 284 on Wednesday.



Baylor (+34) finished in front of Kansas (+43), Kansas State (+54), West Virginia (+67) and Iowa State (+70). The Bears placed behind Oklahoma State (+9), Oklahoma (+10), Texas (+11), TCU (+20) and Texas Tech (+29).



All five Bears posted final-round scores of 1-over 71. Grider was 4-over through 13 holes, but he made birdies on Nos. 14, 16 and 17 along with pars on No. 15 and No. 18 to get back to 1-over. Dossey was 3-over at the turn, but made three birdies on the back-9 on his way to a 1-over. Reppe and Keefer made three birdies apiece on the front-9, and Kober made a birdie on No. 17 to get back to 1-over.



Colin Kober and Mark Reppe earned All-Tournament Team recognition after tying for 10th place individually at 9-over 289. Johnny Keefer tied for 29th place at 14-over 294, while Ryan Grider tied for 32nd place at 15-over 295 and Cooper Dossey tied for 35th place at 16-over 296.



STAT OF THE DAY

6-under – Mark Reppe tied for the lead in the 50-player field with a 6-under, 4.25 par-5 scoring at average. He was 5-under for the tournament on No. 7 with an eagle and three birdies, and he made two birdies, one par and a bogey on No. 17. Baylor tied for the team lead in par-5 scoring at 16-under 4.60.



WHAT’S NEXT

Baylor is expected to earn an NCAA Regional berth for the 23rd consecutive tournament. The 2021 NCAA Championship selection show airs Wednesday, May 5 at 1 p.m. CT on Golf Channel. The top five teams from each of the six regional sites advance to the NCAA Championship which will be played May 28-June 2 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.



NCAA Regionals will be contested May 17-19 at The Sagamore Club in Noblesville, Ind., Seminole Legacy Golf Club in Tallahassee, Fla., Championship Course at UNM in Albuquerque, N.M., Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Okla., Golf Club of Tennessee in Kingston Springs, Tenn. and Tumble Creek Golf & Country Club in Cle Elum, Wash.
