Baylor Men’s Golf in Sixth at Big 12 Championship
Bears are 16 shots back of lead at halfway point

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Baylor men’s golf is in sixth place after shooting 33-over-par 593 across two rounds Monday in the Big 12 Championship at Prairie Dunes Country Club.



Teams battled windy conditions all day, as the Bears carded 17-over 297 in the first round and improved by one stroke with a 16-over 296 in the afternoon. Baylor (+33) is in front of Kansas (+44), Kansas State (+50), West Virginia (+54) and Iowa State (+56). The Bears are 16 shots back of the lead held by Oklahoma (+17), followed by Oklahoma State (+18), Texas (+24), TCU (+29) and Texas Tech (+30).



Baylor’s best round in the morning came from Colin Kober, who posted a 3-over 73. Ryan Grider shot 4-over 74, while Johnny Keefer and Cooper Dossey finished off the team scorecard with rounds of 5-over 75. Keefer made 10 consecutive pars to start his round. Mark Reppe was one shot back of counting toward the team score with a 6-over 76.



Reppe and Grider tied for the best afternoon round with matching scores of 2-over 72. Kober made a birdie on the 18th hole to finish at 4-over 74, and Keefer carded 8-over 78 to round out the Baylor scorecard, and Dossey posted a 10-over 80.



Grider leads the Bears and is tied for eighth in the 50-player field at 6-over 146 at the midway point in the tournament. Kober is one shot back tied for 10th place at 7-over 147, and Reppe is one more shot back in a tie for 13th place at 8-over 148. Keefer is tied for 33rd place at 13-over 153, and Dossey is tied for 38th place at 15-over 155.



STAT OF THE DAY

4.70 – Baylor led the field in par-5 scoring on Monday at 6-under 4.70. Reppe tied for the individual lead at 3-under 4.25, while Keefer, Grider and Kober posted 1-under 4.75 and Dossey recorded even-par 5.00.



WHAT’S NEXT

Baylor is in the first group to tee off for Tuesday’s third round, and the Bears are paired in twosomes with players from Texas Tech. Dossey is up first at 8 a.m. CT, and he’ll be followed in nine-minute intervals by Keefer, Reppe, Kober and Grider, respectively. Wednesday’s final round tee times will be determined by the 54-hole standings.
