THE RUNDOWN
THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Baylor women’s golf shot 6-under-par 282 in Tuesday’s final round of the 2021 Big 12 Championship, finishing in third place with a 54-hole total of 17-under-par 847 over three days at Carlton Woods.



The No. 15-ranked Bears (-17) finished just one stroke behind No. 29 Texas Tech (-18), but secured sole possession of third place when Gurleen Kaur made a difficult up-and-down for par on the final hole. BU was one shot better than No. 32 Oklahoma (-16) in fourth place, followed by No. 18 Texas (-10), Kansas State (+9), No. 45 TCU (+9), No. 37 Iowa State (+20) and Kansas (+26). No. 6 Oklahoma State won the tournament at 34-under.



Kaur and Elodie Chapelet earned All-Tournament Team recognition after recording top-10 individual finishes. Kaur shot 2-under 70 on Tuesday to finish in third place at 11-under 205, while Chapelet tied for ninth place at 5-under 211 following her final round of 2-under 70.



Freshmen Britta Snyder and Rosie Belsham posted matching final rounds of 1-under 71 to round out the Baylor scorecard. Snyder finished tied for 15th place at 1-under 215, while Belsham took 18th place at even-par 216. Hannah Karg shot even-par 72 in the final round to finish 30th at 5-over 221.



Baylor led the tournament with 186 pars and finished fourth in the field with 49 birdies. Kaur tied for third in par-5 scoring at 5-under 4.58, while she and Chapelet tied for fourth in par-4 scoring at 4-under 3.87 and Snyder tied for fourth in par-3 scoring at 2-under 2.83. Kaur also tied for second with 15 birdies across 54 holes, while Belsham led the team and finished third in the field with 40 pars.



STAT OF THE DAY

7 – Baylor has finished top-3 at the Big 12 Championship in seven of nine appearances under head coach Jay Goble. Prior to his tenure, the Bears had one top-3 finish in a Big 12 Championship.



WHAT’S NEXT

Baylor is expected to earn a berth in one of four NCAA Regionals when the field is announced at 1 p.m. CT on Wednesday, April 28. The four regionals will be contested May 10-12 in Baton Rouge, La., Columbus, Ohio, Louisville, Ky. and Stanford, Calif. The top six teams from each NCAA Regional advance to the NCAA Championship, which will be played May 21-26 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
