THE RUNDOWN
WACO, Texas – Baylor women’s golf begins its postseason run Sunday at the Big 12 Championship. The three-day, 54-hole tournament will be played on a par-72, 6,345-yard course at Carlton Woods in The Woodlands, Texas.

Baylor earned the tournament’s No. 1 seed with a No. 7 national ranking in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings. No. 8-ranked Oklahoma State is the No. 2 seed, followed by No. 16 Texas, No. 29 Texas Tech, No. 30 Oklahoma, No. 38 Iowa State and No. 45 TCU. Kansas State is the No. 8 seed and Kansas is the No. 9 seed.

Baylor’s lineup is led by redshirt freshman Hannah Karg. She’s followed by Gurleen Kaur in the No. 2 spot, freshman Britta Snyder at No. 3, freshman Rosie Belsham at No. 4 and Elodie Chapelet at No. 5.

Kaur is the only Baylor player with previous Big 12 Championship experience, as she’s joined in the lineup by three freshmen and a second-year grad transfer. The 2020 Big 12 Championship was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kaur helped the Bears to second-place finishes in each of her first two Big 12 Championships. In her freshman season, Kaur earned Big 12 All-Tournament honors after finishing in seventh place individually at Dallas Athletic Club. She again led the Bears to a second-place finish as a sophomore, when she tied for 19th place individually in the 2019 Big 12 Championship at Golf Club of Oklahoma.

Baylor has finished top-3 in the Big 12 Championship in six of eight appearances under head coach Jay Goble. Prior to his tenure, Baylor recorded two top-3 finishes in the first 15 Big 12 Championships. The Bears finished third in Goble’s first season in 2012, took second place in 2013, finished third in 2014, won their first Big 12 Championship title in 2015, placed sixth in 2016, took fifth in 2017, tied for second in 2018 and finished second in 2019.

No. 1 seed Baylor is paired with No. 2 seed Oklahoma State and No. 3 seed Texas for Sunday’s first round. Those teams will tee off from No. 1 at 8 a.m. CT. Chapelet is up first, followed by Belsham at 8:10 a.m., Snyder at 8:20 a.m., Kaur at 8:30 a.m. and Karg at 8:40 a.m.
