Baylor Men’s Golf Places Fourth at Colonial Collegiate

THE RUNDOWN
FORT WORTH, Texas – Baylor men’s golf moved up two spots to finish tied for fourth place with a 54-hole total of 23-over-par 863 in the Colonial Collegiate Invitational. The Bears carded 9-over 289 in Tuesday’s final round at Colonial Country Club, passing Kansas State and moving into a tie with Kansas.



Baylor (+23) tied TCU (+23) and Kansas (+23) and finished in front of Kansas State (+27), Oklahoma State (+31), West Virginia (+53) and Iowa State (+54). The Bears placed behind Oklahoma (-5), Texas (+1) and Texas Tech (+10).



Four Bears earned top-25 individual finishes, led by redshirt freshman Johnny Keefer, who tied for 13th place at 4-over 214 following a final round of 1-over 71. Cooper Dossey shot 2-over 72 in the final round to finish tied for 15th place at 5-over 215. Ryan Grider and Colin Kober recorded matching final rounds of 3-over 73, with Grider finishing tied for 19th place at 6-over 216 and Kober tied for 23rd place at 8-over 218.



Freshman Trey Bosco posted 6-over 76 in the final round to finish 54th at 23-over 233, while Brandon Hoff shot 8-over 78 on Tuesday and finished tied for 46th place at 19-over 229.


HIGHLIGHTS

  *   Baylor finished fourth in the field in par-4 scoring at 42-over 4.19, tied for fourth in par-5 scoring at 1-under 4.97 and seventh in par-3 scoring at 24-over 3.33.
  *   Baylor’s 208 pars tied for second-most in the field.
  *   Dossey tied for second in the 60-player field in par-3 scoring at 1-under 2.92.
  *   Grider tied for second in par-5 scoring at 3-under 4.50, including making one of only two eagles in the tournament.
  *   Kober tied for eighth in par-4 scoring at even-par 4.00.
  *   Dossey and Keefer tied for second in the field with 39 pars across 54 holes.
  *   Kober led the team and tied for 12th overall with eight birdies.


STAT OF THE DAY
1 – Ryan Grider made the tournament’s only eagle on a par-5 hole when he sank an eight-foot putt on the 565-yard, par-5 first hole in Tuesday’s final round. The only other eagle made during the 54-hole tournament was when Kansas’ William Duquette holed out on the 406-yard, par-4 sixth hole in Monday’s second round.
