THE RUNDOWN
AUSTIN, Texas – Baylor women’s golf took home its second-consecutive team title, and Gurleen Kaur won her second-straight individual championship on Sunday afternoon at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational. The Bears carded 14-under 274 in Sunday’s final round to finish at 22-under 842, while Kaur shot 6-under 66 to finish at 13-under 203.

Baylor (-22) claimed an 11-shot victory atop the eight-team field at University of Texas Golf Club, its second consecutive tournament win by 42 combined strokes. BU finished in front of tournament-host Texas (-11), Oklahoma (-8), Iowa State (+9), TCU (+13), North Texas (+15), Texas Tech (+23) and Kansas (+27).

Kaur claimed the third medalist honor of her career, her second in as many tournaments this season and her first outright individual title. She played a bogey-free final round of 6-under 66, including a 5-under 31 on the back-9, to finish one shot ahead of Oklahoma State individual Isabella Fierro (-12). Kaur played only three of 36 holes above-par in the tournament, 13 birdies and a pair of eagles.

Kaur became the second player in program history to win consecutive individual titles, joining Mary Coleman Hornsby, who did so in fall 1996 with a 108-hole total of 447 to win the Big 12 Fall Preview and Lady Cardinal Invitational. Kaur shot 408 over 108 holes in her two tournament victories, with her 205 at the Schooner Fall Classic the fourth-best 54-hole score in program history, followed by the third-best 54-hole total in program history with a 203 at the Betsy Rawls Invite.

Three more Bears recorded top-8 individual finishes. Diane Baillieux, who was competing as an individual, finished in seventh place with a career-best mark of 4-under 212 after a final round of 1-under 71. Fellow individual true freshman Nina Lang tied for eighth place at 3-under 213, including a bogey-free final round of 2-under 70. True freshman Britta Snyder also tied for eighth at 3-under 213, carding a 3-under 69 with and eagle and two birdies on Sunday.

Elodie Chapelet shot 1-under 71 in the final round to finish tied for 12th place at 2-under 214, while true freshman Rosie Belsham tied for 16th place at even-par 216 with a final round of 4-under 68. Redshirt freshman Hannah Karg tied for 30th place at 9-over 225, and fellow redshirt freshman Anika Veintemilla finished 45th at 20-over 236.

TOP QUOTE I
“The depth of this team is unlike any team I’ve ever had,” head coach Jay Goble said. “You got straight down the line and every player on our team is great. It was exciting to see not only the great finish by Gurleen and the team, but everybody would’ve shot a score to contribute to the team this week, which was really fun to watch. I’m proud of them, but the thing that’s really cool is that the Big 12 and Baylor have given us an opportunity to compete during this fall semester, and we’re going to do everything we can take advantage of that. Everyone has been working so hard this fall, and they’re just excited for the opportunity to compete.”

TOP QUOTE II
“It was amazing,” Goble said of Kaur’s play on her way to a second-straight individual title. “I don’t think she had a bogey today, which is unreal on this golf course, particularly when the wind starts to blow like it can. She really feels comfortable out here, but the last two days haven’t been that easy, and to come out and shoot 13-under for three rounds, I don’t care where you play, that’s amazing golf.”
