STORY LINES
• No. 2/1 Baylor takes on Washington at 5 pm CT Sunday from Las Vegas' T-Mobile Arena.
• Baylor is No. 1 in the preseason coaches' poll and No. 2 in the AP Top 25 – both highest preseason rankings in program history. This is the 7th time Baylor has been ranked No. 1 nationally.
• Baylor has been in the Preseason AP Top 25 in 8 of 11 seasons since its first preseason ranking in 2010-11.
• Baylor is facing UW for the 4th time and is 1-3 in the all-time series, including 0-1 in the Drew era.
• Baylor also faced Washington in its second game of the season last year, falling 67-64 in the Armed Forces Classic in Anchorage. BU led that game for 36:27, but lost a 13-point 2nd half lead.
• Baylor returns four All-Big 12 players from a 2019-20 team which went 26-4 and spent five weeks ranked No. 1 nationally. The Bears finished last season ranked No. 4 in the coaches poll (No. 5 in AP).
• BU will be without 2020 Big 12 Coach of the Year Scott Drew, who is in the middle of a 10-day isolation period after testing positive for COVID-19 on Nov. 20. Drew will rejoin the team in Indianapolis.
• Associate head coach Jerome Tang will serve as acting head coach. Tang has been on Drew's staff for all 18 years at BU, and he is 3-0 as acting head coach (2-0 in 2012-13, 1-0 in 2020-21).
• Baylor is 12-5 against Pac-12 opponents during the Drew era — 2-0 vs. Arizona, 4-0 vs. Arizona State, 2-1 vs. Colorado, 2-1 vs. Oregon, 1-0 vs. USC, 1-2 vs. Washington State and 0-1 vs. Washington.
• Baylor opened the season with a 112-82 win over ULL on Saturday. BU's 112 points were its most since 2017, and all five Baylor guards posted 12+ points. The Baylor bench outscored ULL 45-4.

• Baylor's defense forced 15+ turnovers in 19 of 31 games since the start of the 2019-20 season.

• BU returns two players who were semifinalists for the 2020 Naismith Defensive Player of the Year. Mark Vital was 1 of 4 finalists, while Davion Mitchell joined Vital among the 10 semifinalists.
• Baylor is playing its 243rd game as a ranked team under Drew – BU was ranked in 2 of 2197 games over the program's 97 seasons prior to Drew. Since 2008-09, BU has been ranked in 240 of 422 games.
• BU finished ranked top-10 nationally in offensive rebounding pct (No. 8) for a 7th consecutive year.
• Baylor has won 20+ games in 11 of the last 13 years. The Bears reached the 20-win mark only 3 times in 101 seasons prior to 2008. BU is averaging 24 wins per season since 2008.
• Head coach Scott Drew is in his 18th season in Waco and is BU's all-time wins leader (343-211).
• BU has advanced to 8 consecutive postseasons, tied as the nation's 10th-longest active streak.
