WACO, Texas – Baylor baseball led the Big 12 with 19 Academic All-Big 12 selections, including a league-high 17 first team honorees, the conference office announced recently.

The Bears’ 19 total selections set a new program high, besting the 17 honorees set in 2018 and again in 2019. The 17 first team selections also marked a new program high.

First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence.

Andy Thomas, Ryan Leckich and Jimmy Winston all earned their third-career First Team Academic All-Big 12 honor.

Jacob Ashkinos, Ryan Bertelsman, Luke Boyd, Daniel Caruso, Kyle Harper, Nick Loftin, Tyler Thomas and Chase Wehsener all earned their second-career Academic-All Big 12 honor, with Bertelsman, Boyd, Caruso and Wehsener being named to the first team for the second time.

Paul Dickens, Logan Freeman, Brooks Helmer, Blake Helton, Ricky Martinez, Mackenzie Mueller, Anderson Needham and Hunter Seay were all first-time Academic All-Big 12 honorees.
