THE RUNDOWN
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Baylor women’s golf remained in third place after shooting 9-over 293 in Saturday’s second round of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. The Bears are at 19-over 587, 12 shots back of the lead entering Sunday’s final round at Long Cove Club.



No. 20 Baylor (+19) trails only No. 7 Wake Forest (+7) and No. 14 UCLA (+12). The Bears lead 14 top-40 ranked teams, including No. 19 Auburn (+24), No. 1 Texas (+25), No. 36 North Carolina (+25), No. 6 Duke (+26), No. 22 Vanderbilt (+26), No. 12 LSU (+29), No. 18 Arkansas (+33), No. 4 South Carolina (+34), No. 13 Alabama (+42), No. 33 Furman (+43), No. 21 Florida State (+44), No. 34 Virginia (+45), No. 40 Northwestern (+47) and No. 52 Georgia (+52).



Diane Baillieux and Gurleen Kaur are tied for 10th place in the 90-player field with 36-hole totals of 3-over 145. Baillieux carded even-par 71 in Saturday’s second round, while Kaur shot 1-over 72. Elodie Chapelet posted her second straight round of 2-over 73 to move into a tie for 15th place at 4-over 146, and Hannah Karg shot 6-over 77 Screenshot_2020-03-07 Team - Darius Rucker Intercollegiate(1)to round out the BU scorecard. Karg and Erica Chiang, who shot 13-over 84 on Saturday, are tied for 70th place at 16-over 158.



Baylor’s four counting scores combined to shoot 2-over on the front-9, with Kaur going 1-under and Chapelet, Baillieux and Karg all taking the turn at 1-over. Baillieux shot 1-under on the back-9, while Chapelet was 1-over, Kaur was 2-over and Karg came in at 5-over.


HIGHLIGHTS

  *   Baylor leads the 17-team field in par-3 scoring at 3-over 3.08, ranks tied for third in par-5 scoring at 1-over 5.03 and 12th in par-4 scoring at 38-over 4.35.
  *   Baylor’s 114 pars are tied for second-most in the tournament, while the Bears 11th with 15 birdies.
  *   Kaur is tied for the lead in the 90-player field in par-5 scoring at 3-under 4.50, while Baillieux and Chapelet are tied for 18th at even-par 5.00.
  *   Kaur is tied for 10th in par-4 scoring at 3-over 4.14.
  *   Baillieux is tied for third in par-3 scoring at 1-under 2.88, while Chapelet and Karg are tied for eighth at even-par 3.00.
  *   Chapelet is tied for the tournament lead with 30 pars across 36 holes, Kaur ranks tied for seventh with 26 pars and Baillieux is tied for ninth with 25 pars.
  *   Baillieux, Kaur and Chiang are tied for the team lead and rank 21st with four birdies.

STAT OF THE DAY
2-over – Baylor players combined to shoot 2-over on the front-9 in Saturday’s second round. The Bears played the front-9 at 1-under on Friday and are now 1-over on the front-9 for the tournament, while carding 18-over on the back-9.


WHAT'S NEXT

Tee times for Sunday’s final round begin at 7 a.m. CT from the first and 10th tees. Baylor is in the final group off the first tee in pairings with players from Wake Forest and UCLA. Chiang has the first tee time at 8:40 a.m., and she’ll be followed in 10-minute intervals by Karg, Chapelet, Kaur and Baillieux, respectively.
