THE RUNDOWN
TUCSON, Ariz. – Baylor men’s golf is in second place after shooting 4-under-par 564 across two rounds on Monday at the Arizona Intercollegiate. The Bears carded 9-under 275 in the first round and 5-over 289 in the second round at Sewailo Golf Club.

No. 12-ranked Baylor (-4) trails only tournament-host No. 11 Arizona (-10). The Bears lead No. 17 Washington (+3), St. Mary’s (+6), No. 36 New Mexico (+9), UTEP (+10), Mississippi State (+11), Iowa State (+12), Louisiana-Monroe (+12), No. 44 Long Beach State (+15), Washington State (+20), UTSA (+24), New Mexico State (+30) and Little Rock (+32). UTEP, ULM, Washington State and New Mexico State had two holes remaining in the second round when play was suspended due to darkness.

Baylor is led by senior Cooper Dossey, junior Ryan Grider and redshirt junior Travis McInroe, who are tied for ninth place individually with matching scores of 1-under 141. Grider posted a 6-under in the morning, his first round played for Baylor since May after missing the entire fall season with an injury. Dossey shot 4-under 67 in the first round, and McInroe, who is competing as an individual shot 3-under 68 in the morning. McInroe has one hole remaining to complete his second round when play resumes Tuesday.

Freshman Johnny Keefer is tied for 14th place at even-par 142, including a first-round of 2-under 69. Junior Mark Reppe is tied for 28th place at 3-over 145, and senior Colin Kober is tied for 55th place at 8-over 150. Reppe and Kober led the Bears in the second round with scores of even-par 71.

HIGHLIGHTS

  *   All six Baylor golfers posted one round at par or better on Monday.
  *   Baylor leads the 14-team field in par-3 scoring at 2-over 3.05, ranks tied for third in par-5 scoring at 7-under 4.77 and tied for fourth in par-4 scoring at 14-over 4.13.
  *   Baylor’s tournament-high four eagles on Monday accounted for one-third of the 12 eagles made on the day.
  *   BU ranks fourth in the field with 33 birdies and tied for sixth with 106 pars.
  *   Dossey is tied for second in the field with a 4-under 4.33 par-5 scoring average and tied for ninth with a 1-under 3.95 par-4 scoring average.
  *   McInroe is tied for fifth in par-5 scoring at 3-under 4.50 and tied for 12th in par-3 scoring at even-par 3.00.
  *   Reppe and Keefer are tied for fourth in par-3 scoring at 2-under 2.75.
  *   Grider is tied for 12th in par-4 scoring at even-par 4.00.
  *   Reppe and Grider are tied for 14th in par-5 scoring at 2-under 4.67.
  *   Grider was the only player in the field to make two eagles on Monday, while Dossey and Kober were among the 10 players who made one eagle.
  *   McInroe is tied for second in the field with 11 birdies, and Dossey is tied for fourth with 10 birdies.
  *   Keefer and Reppe are tied for 13th with 24 pars across 36 holes.

STAT OF THE DAY
4 – Baylor made four of the 12 eagles posted on Monday at Sewailo. Grider eagled the par-5 14th hole in the first round, Dossey made eagle on the par-5 eighth in the second round, Grider eagled the par-5 10th hole in the second round, and Kober made eagle on the par-4 17th hole in the second round. The remaining 13 teams in the field combined for eight eagles.

WHAT'S NEXT
Teams will continue with the same pairings from the first two rounds for Tuesday’s final round, which is scheduled for a 9 a.m. CT shotgun start. Keefer and Reppe will play together and start on the first hole, Kober and Grider are paired together beginning on the second hole, Dossey will start on No. 3 and McInroe will begin on No. 18 after completing his second round on No. 17.
